12 ans après « Clouds Are Beautiful », Hide&Seek revient avec un nouvel album : dans la continuité des précédents, « A Spring Idyl » allie la coldwave et la pop, avec cette fois des sons plus électroniques. Les voix, féminine et masculine, se partagent des textes qui explorent la beauté et la mélancolie des rapports humains. Le duo est épaulé par un flûtiste qui vient subtilement colorer les sonorités froides des guitares et des synthétiseurs. A travers son titre et deux chansons, l’album rend aussi hommage à Elizabeth Magie, née en 1866, singulière tout à la fois par son esprit progressiste, son inventivité et sa sensibilité.
